June 30 – The Captain is traveling to Vancouver, where he will be picking up the newest addition to his fleet:  a 1942 Chevy 1 and 1/2 ton.  There will be a stop in Glenns Ferry, Idaho for a 4th of July Parade.  Check back for photos and the full story. This is the truck that The Captain and his driver, Sgt. Eastman, will be retrieving from Vancouver. The Captain thought about trading for an older vehicle, but, in the end, he had to stick with Old Glory! photo 1(4) photo 2(4) This is what it’s like to ride in Old Glory:

July 4 – The Captain and Sgt. Eastman will escort Old Glory through the streets of Glenns Ferry for the 4th of July Parade.  The people of Glenns Ferry were thrilled to see them. IMG_2803 IMG_2797 The Scouts couldn’t wait to jump in the back and ride through town for the parade.
Patriotic youth! Everyone of them!

After Old Glory so dutifully delivered him to Glenns Ferry, The Captain took time out to help the local coffee shop get their “Old Glory” untangled: Now that all the excitement of the parade has ended, The Captain and Sgt. Eastman will bring Old Glory back to Salt Lake City.  They hope to meet more people, and especially veterans, as the spread the word about Gartforvets.org along the way.  Be sure to stop back soon to see more photos and hear the tales they tell! After the parade,  Old Glory was out on patrol when  he was caught in an ambush.  During the skirmish,  a short round wounded Old Glory slightly.  Old Glory was evacuated to a local undisclosed location for immediate medical evaluation.  Old glory was in need of parts which the Captain was sent out to find. IMG_8137 IMG_8138 IMG_8145 While in the medicvac company the Captain set out on alternative means to find parts for Old Glory. IMG_8267 IMG_8268
It didn’t take long for the Captain to seek out and find the treasured part needed. This donor 1946 Chevy truck provided the needed part.

A hearty thank you for all the support from the VFW at Glenn's Ferry and the Captain was off. Best part of the trip? The Captain's wife stepped in as A driver for the long haul home! Happy Captain.

The veterans meeting and greeting continued. A nice exchange of service rivalry was had between Howard (US Navy 1957-1961 and the Captain. Howard learned to drive as a kid in a 1942 Chevy sedan.
