Allianz is one of the leading financial servers worldwide with 88 million customers in 70 countries.
To commemorate all United States Military Veterans and the 100 year anniversary of the armistice which ended World War 1. Allianz’s Director Retirement Specialist Greg Poplarski based in Indianapolis, organized this event with Nyhart at their Indianapolis location. With the help of 26 other leading financial service sponsors in the financial retirement investing industry, a special honorarium speaker was invited to address the many special guests from the sponsoring corporations.
Speaking about his war time service and his incredible story of survival, courage, and faith was Sergeant Edgar Harrell, age 94, who was a United States Marine who served on the USS Indianapolis during WW2. He survived the worst US Naval disaster in US history after the Indianapolis ship was sunk in the Pacific with 1195 men aboard. After 4 and a half days lost at sea, only 317 were rescued and survived due to shark attack, dehydration, hypothermia, and wounds received.
We honored all veterans who served and submit to never forget those who have served and died in the service of their country. That peace be preserved through the readiness of our armed forces.

Sgt. Harrell took the time to meet all the sponsors, take pictures with them and personally sign all copy’s of the book he authored “Out of the Depths” which everyone received.
No visit to any city in America on November 10th would have been complete without celebrating the birth of the Marine Corps which was born on November 10, 1775!
Edgar was graciously invited by Commanding Officer Maj. Brian Pegram and SgMaj. Lester Abanto of Recruiting Station Indianapolis to participate in the Birthday Ball cake cutting ceremony. For those who have never attended a ball, the cake cutting ceremony is very special. The oldest Marine present (Edgar Harrell age 94) and the youngest Marine present (Sgt. Eric Gabriel age 23) had the honors that night.
A special Thank You to all the sponsors and especially Allianz for their efforts to bring all Americans together to share their success in business and pay respect for and remember all those who have served us all on this special Day, Veterans Day November 11, 2018.
Semper Fidelis always
The Captain
