Never Never forget

Time is flying by for me and many others of my age. Our young citizens won’t realize how fast time passes until they retire or get to be a little older.  I pray that our youngest generation will hold our nation together by recognizing what is happening now. We must not forget our founding and our history as Americans.  We must remember those who have served and sacrificed to carry our country forward from 1775 until now. I would like all Americans to listen to this 20th anniversary of 9/11 podcast. For the young, remember these  Americans who were here before you and who lived and died through our darkest days. For those who are a little older, remember and recognize where we are now. We can not forget the events that have forged us going all the way back to our founding.  Listen to the podcast and find the strength to stand up for our country and all she is meant to be and can be. This podcast was produced by Ed Hoffman on his Main Event site at Edhoffman.net. Thank you Ed for your cast to remember.  Semper Fi

Our love for Corpsman

Aspiring country band, Walker McGuire have penned a song dedicated to the “Docs” and Corpsman out there. These medics are unsung heroes and don’t always get the recognition that they deserve, and these two men decided that something needs to be done about that. So they wrote “They Call Me Doc”, a song dedicated to those who heroically save lives.

Jordan Walker and Johnny McGuire found inspiration for this song from an unnamed Navy Corpsman. In 2014, Walker McGuire and CreatiVets got together with said Corpsman and drew inspiration from his time in Iraq, threading his tales into lyrics, thus creating this tribute. CreatiVets wrote, “This Navy Corpsman saved the lives of Marines who were seriously injured in Iraq, and truly defines the word “hero”.”

The unnamed Corpsman was interviewed by CreatiVets and stated:

“One of the things that I wanted to be incorporated into the song was that I wanted it to be about the whole spectrum of care not just my experience. I wanted to tell the story of how Doc’s treat someone in the field as well as how they are treated during their recovery.”

Though Walker McGuire will never fully understand what this man went through, their song is a phenomenal tribute to those who do understand first hand. The Navy Corpsman stated, “All of my friends that are Corpsman thought the song was great and have shared it with others.”

Take a moment and listen to this emotional tune that’ll give y’all maybe just a little understanding of what these heroic medics go through. Tears are inevitable.

BLACK RIFLE COFFEE ENCOUNTER

Big Glory made a landing at America’s Coffee HQ. The visit turned into nothing less than a veterans rally! The Captain even lucked out and had a chance meeting with Evan Hafer, CEO Black Rifle Coffee!

The first encounter at BRC was with Bart or should I say, Master Sergeant Bart. Bart served us all and our nation for 38 years! First as a US Army soldier in logistics and later as a Medic. Bart served from 1983 to 2021, with tours in Iraq 2005/06, Korea, and Okinawa. That service was not enough so Bart served again with the Salt Lake City Police 1994-1997. That was not enough either so Bart served us again as a Utah State Trooper from 1997-2017. Wow, what a guy what a career he has had. If you meet him tell him I said Hi! Thank you for the warm welcome we will see you again so

Police stand between us and evil

Selma, CA – Selma Police Department (SPD) Officer Gonzalo Carrasco was murdered in the line of duty on Jan. 31 after he stopped to help a resident who had spotted a trespasser on her property.

Investigators said the 24-year-old officer was out on patrol in the 2600-block of Pine Street at approximately 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday when he was flagged down by a resident who told him there was a suspicious person in her yard, the SPD said in a press release on Wednesday.

As Officer Carrasco got out of his patrol car to investigate the report, 23-year-old felon Nathaniel Dixon opened fire on him, hitting him multiple times, according to police.

SPD Chief Rudy Alcaraz told reporters the attack occurred so fast that Officer Carrasco never had the opportunity to return fire.

Dixon fled the scene after the deadly ambush but was apprehended by deputies in the area of Sequoia Street and Fig Street at approximately 12:10 p.m.

The gunman’s firearm was recovered a short distance away from the arrest location, according to the SPD.

Officer Carrasco was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his wounds after being rushed into emergency surgery.

He was the first Selma police officer to be killed in the line of duty.

Dixon, a felon who has been convicted of robbery, drugs, and firearms charges and served prison time in the past, was booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of murder, probation violation, and felon in possession of a gun and ammunition, KFSN reported.

His bail was set at $1.2 million.

Dixon was sentenced to five years and four months in prison as recently as March of 2022, but was out on the streets on Post Release Community Supervision by September under California’s “prison realignment” lawThe Fresno Bee reported.

“The shooter is an admitted gang member and has been arrested for several felony offenses that were prosecuted by the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office for charges related to robbery, weapons, and drugs,” Fresno County District Attorney Lisa Smittcamp told reporters, according to KBAK.

Smittcamp said Officer Carrasco “was shot and killed in cold blood by a 23-year-old felon with no regard for human life.”

“Governor Gavin Newsom, and every legislator in the state of California who supports this over-reaching phenomenon they try to disguise as legitimate criminal justice reform, has the blood of this officer on their hands,” the outraged prosecutor added, according to KBAK.

Fresno County Sheriff John Zanoni said investigators were working to determine the motive for the shooting, and told reporters the officer’s murder could be gang-related.

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) is handling the ongoing investigation into the young officer’s murder, according to the SPD.

Officer Carrasco graduated from Reedley High School in 2016 and was active in basketball and football during his high school years, KFSN reported.

He participated in the Reedley Police Department’s Explorer Program prior to joining the SPD as a non-paid reserve officer in 2020, the SPD said in a press release on Wednesday.

“As a proud son of farmworkers, Gonzalo took the initiative to pursue his education and later attend the police academy,” the SPD said. Officer Carrasco became a sworn officer in 2021.

The SPD noted he was awaiting the birth of his first child.

Officer Carrasco leaves behind his pregnant girlfriend, as well as his parents, sisters, and brother.

“Selma lost a member of the family yesterday, the brave police officer who gave his life in the line of duty while working to keep all of us safe,” Selma Mayor Scott Robertson said in a press release. “We will never forget the sacrifice of this officer, and our prayers go out to his family and loved ones and to our Police Department, City and Community which is shocked from this sudden and violent taking of a good person whose life was cut short far too soon.”

The Fresno County Deputy Sheriff’s Association is supporting the Selma Police Officer’s Association by establishing a memorial fund in which all donations will be given to Officer Carrasco’s family.
