Layton, Utah Veterans Day Parade!

Future leaders, young patriots with a motto that “leaders are not born…they are made”. Mentored by Veterans, the JROTC was proud and motivated to particpate in the city parade.
The Captain’s 1943 Willys Jeep did well in the parde representing all our military services.
Student patriots carried a beautiful vintage 48 star flag during the entire parde. You must love history and our flag. You must appreciate the youth that does too!
The Captain was proud to join his fellow members of the Utah Military History Group in the parade. One of the leaders Ben Johnson had had his 1943 GMC CCKW restoration project on display. The group has a new member interested in honoring history and our veterans and his name is Harris. He made his first parade this day and the Captain was happy to have him ride as an A driver in his Jeep.
Utah Military History Group’s Ben Johnson’s 1943 GMC 2.5 ton CCKW. Running Strong in the parade.
Harris, the young “New Guy” interested in honoring our history and our veterans by getting involved in our Utah Military History Group. The Captain was glad to have him ride along side him in the parde.
Layton City is special in that the Vietnam Veterans worked with Layton City to rasie all the funds to build a 1/3 scale Vietnam Memorial Wall to honor the fallen of the war in Vietnam. The Captain took the time to honor and remember one Marine whom he has had the honor to know through his sister Robin Duffy who is a patriot and beautiful person. Robin has served us all as a school teacher teaching and mentoring our youth for many years. Robin’s dear brother gave the ultimate sacrifice while serving his fellow Marines and our country in Vietnam. He was LCpl. David G. Russell. David was just 19 years old when he died while fighting with his fellow Marines. May we never forget David and his service to us and the people fo South Vietnam.

The parade was well attended and the weather was magnificant. Thank You to all the veterans and parade organizers who made this parade possible.
