Signed copy of Sgt. Edgar Harrell’s book titled “Out of the Depths”. I had the honor to promote this WW2 Marine to the rank of Sergeant 73 years after he was discharged as a Corpral despite being promoted to Sergeant on the after noon of July 29, 1945, just 12 hours before the ship would be lost. Edar was a Marine stationed on the USS Indy when she was sunk on July 30, 1945. Edgar and only 315 of 1198 souls who went in the water that night survived. Edgar was one of only nine Marines that survived. There were 39 Marines on the ship in all. Edgar was the last Marine survivor alive when he then received his final orders and departed for a higher calling in May, 2021. Gone but not forgotten. His words and story will inspire you an others, read it now and pay it forward, pass it on. Everyone should know the story of the USS Indianapolis and remember those who sacrificed so much to help win the war. God bless them all, there are only two survivors who remain today. Sgt. Harrell is the only survivor to have written a book to tell his survival story in his own words.
